Stocking Christmas Ornament Crochet Pattern Notes
Red yarn for main color- (I use a lot of Red Heart saver yarn for these though you can use all medium to normal weight yarn)
White yarn for trim /accents
“H” hook (5.00 mm)
Scissors or yarn cutter
Blunt large eye yarn / tapestry needle to weave in ends
Abbreviations used in this pattern:
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet (US)
Red Stocking Main Part:
Round 1: Chain 8. Sc in second loop from hook and in each of the following ch. Ch 1 and turn(7 sc)
Round 2: Place 2 sc in first st and 1 sc in each of the next 6 st. Ch1 and turn. (8 sc)
Round 3: Sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn (8 sc)
Round 4: Sl st across first 3 st, working sc in the last 5 st. Ch 1 and turn. (5 sc)
Round 5-8: Sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn. (5 sc)
Round 9: Sc in each st across. Pull yarn through leaving a long enough tail to hang ornament and fasten off. (5 sc)
If you like a more finished look around the border of the stocking like I did, slip stitch in each stitch all the way around the hat to give it a nice outline.
(Note: If you like a heavier loop or more fancier looking loop, try making a simple loop of chain stitches. I did a loop of 22 ch stitches for this. )
Top white trim on stocking:
Round 1: Attach white yarn to end of final row of completed red stocking bast part (see above) with a slip stitch. Ch 1 and Sc in each sc across from final row on red hat part. Slip stitch into last sc as well. Ch 1 and turn. (5 sc for mine)
Round 2: 3 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc across until last sc, which you will put 3 sc. (9 sc) Slip stitch in last sc. Finish off.
That’s all. It’s a pretty simple project for beginners and the ornament set make great little holiday gift stuffers or quick hostess gifts to whip up in no time.
